Green Tide Still Up at the Lake

6 October 2000

"Get out of here," I said, as yet more jackpots were paid to lucky Tahoe gamblers.... In 15 years of being in Tahoe, I cannot remember a year with as many jackpots flying by as I have witnessed in the last 8 months. It’s a green tide we gamblers hope will never be stemmed! To surf this tide, it appears that all a body has to do is get themselves to Lake Tahoe.

Every day brings a new surprise making life more like one helluva roller coaster ride sometimes... Picked up my telephone this afternoon, and it was Phil Satre from Harrah’s Entertainment.... I had emailed him about the TahoeGamingGuide.com and he decided to answer... Can’t say that I am not splashing hard, because my mouth and the web are the only way I can possibly afford to market Tahoe gambling.... And to Skip Sayre, local marketing guru and top man of marketing at Harrah’s Tahoe....gads, it won’t be the same Tahoe without you.... Don’t forget us, and send us a postcard from your new digs at the Rio in Las Vegas!

And speaking of Harrah’s... they just linked with iwin.com.... and they have promotions online where your email address could win you $5000.... Not too shabby... plus they have a fun play for free keno game that had me pretty entranced. There’s a banner on my home page, you can help save my hide if you use it! (Thanks!)

I have been really burning up the html at all hours.... the TahoeGamingGuide.com underwent cosmetic surgery.... gone are the delivery trucks with the casino names on them, and in their place are starbursts.... Still offer the progressive jackpots collected daily from over 150 progressive slot banks in all the South Shore casinos... Now offering gaming news, and soon offering Lake Tahoe facts and information... Some of the midi’s had to go, after seeing several of the sites offering midi files totally vanish suddenly with notices to beware and to know who made those midis... So some favorites absolutely had to go. I don’t profit from the music in any way, nor do I expect anyone else to, either. It is just a little more fun to go somewhere and have an audio visual experience, plus there are some fans that just like the midis...

HORIZON is now a sponsor.... WELCOME ABOARD, GANG! These folks give new meaning to special events.... never short of ideas or activity. They are hosting the area biker’s annual charity TOY DRIVE this weekend... bikers will be arriving Friday and piling up toys before they leave on Sunday. Next big whooo-dooo is the Freaker’s Ball, which is the largest, freakiest Halloween party... people go all out for this annual event.

Lakeside Inn, our first sponsor, is having a $10,000 Slot/Video Poker tournament on Saturday October 21st. You cannot possibly beat the $25 entry fee for this, details are available on the TahoeGamingGuide.com if you click on the Lakeside’s starburst... You will find links to their website and all the details! I am playing in the tournament.... come join me.... places are limited for this deal.... only 96 entries!

Caesars Tahoe had a sell-out crowd for Jewel last weekend. TahoeGamingGuide.com got to attend the Friday night show. It is the first time in what seems like forever we have gone to a show by a popular-now artist, and it was a real treat. The girl can outyodel anybody on the planet.... She is a champ. Thanks, Caesars! I will be going to Caesars Tahoe again on the 20th to see the Moody Blues.... Ahhhh... another 29-year flashback...... Should be wonderful! Also new daily tournament action at Caesars Tahoe, they have their "Road to Riches" going on, you can find the details on their progressives page. Also noticed a shiny bright yellow crew cab 4 X 4 truck down in the race/sportsbook.... 5 nickels to win.

Harveys hasn’t quit rocking the lake, this weekend kicks off the Harveys Live Legend concert series, with Leon Russell in their intimate 300-seat Cabaret Theater. On the 13th and 14th ,it will be the Supremes starring Mary Wilson. On the 27th and 28th, it will be Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen and New Riders of the Purple Sage. Bambeleo will shake the place November 3rd and 4th, and the ultimate throwback in time, John Kay & Steppenwolf on November 24th and 25th!

The weather is still beautiful, the air crisp and clear, the lake big and blue, and the Aspens are bright as they turn for Fall..... Everyone should come to Lake Tahoe once.... you won’t want to leave!  And, oh yeah,  don't forget the Green Tide is still happening in Lake Tahoe!
