Tahoe's Got MORE New Slots

16 February 2001

Leave it to the Horizon Casino to keep dishing up new things to play with... they have done it again. And again. Newest additions along with 99 Bottles of Beer include Cash Encounters, Cleopatra, Neon Lights, and my personal favorite, The Munsters. All are Aussie-style 9-line nickel slots. The Munsters offers many bonus features and seems to pay and play rather well.

Harrah's Lake Tahoe is still in the process of remodeling the west end of the casino, which means that they had to close the North Beach Deli for a while, which might throw many of the "bread bowl" addicts into full blown withdrawal. In case you haven't had one, a bread bowl is a sourdough bread round carved out and filled usually with clam chowder... though I have been told chili is pretty tasty too... I have to hand it to Harrah's... they have gracefully squeezed everything back together, leaving the full slot selection, and put up lots of signs pointing out the new detours.

Thank you, Harrah's, for the Willie Nelson tickets on my birthday. I like Willie... so on the 23rd that's where I'll be... my husband and Willie have a lot in common, both hail from Texas....Austin, Texas to be exact.

Caesars Tahoe is still working away on the Race Book and the Sports Book... looks like they might be trying to wrap it up soon... and locals and visitors alike are still flocking in daily to play Break the Bank for a top prize of one million dollars, which is free to members of the Emperor's Club... which is also free. Plus they are doing the best paycheck promotion on the mountain at this time, giving 15 people $50 to $1000....and then every Friday night they have this terrific All You Can Eat Crab and Shrimp Buffet that leaves seafood lovers in a trance-like state of euphoria... and on Saturday night, all the people who tried to Break the Bank are eligible to participate in the second chance drawing, where lucky winners can spin the wheel for up to $10,000. Everyone who spins wins money or a prize worth winning.

Harveys is still rockin' the Lake, with over 2300 slot and video gaming machines, including their exclusive High Limits area... and craps and roulette and blackjack and Wild Aruba Stud Poker, and the only poker room on the south shore... and if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, you should check into Llewellyn's, which is way up there on top, overlooking the lake, or if you prefer, the Sage Room, where I have personally enjoyed many steaks and Bananas Foster.... yummmmm.....

Lakeside Inn keeps paying out the progressive keno jackpots.... and I keep drooling. Keno is my game of choice... and it is my dream to hit a fat keno jackpot... and when I get the time and the bankroll, they had better watch out at the Lakeside.... they have more keno than anybody... live keno, video keno... and I am going campin' with a black keno crayon, and, what the heck... quarters and nickels... It will be a "kenothon" and I imagine, a whole lot of fun.

Meanwhile, back at the offices of the TahoeGamingGuide, things have been buzzing all week. Now out from under the umbrella of the Tahoe site, and standing on their own, are the www.RenoGamingGuide.com and the www.LasVegasGamingGuide.com  and I did a little work on the UnitedGamblersAssoc.com while I was at it, replacing the message board. Since everything is still in conceptual stages, I am open to ideas, comments, suggestions... so please write! star@tahoegamingguide.com

I am always open to ideas... after putting Tahoe's jackpots online daily for over a year... I NEED IDEAS... the brain doesn't always function like it used to.

We got many feet of fresh powdered snow last weekend, and evidently the word "foot" is in the forecast for this holiday weekend also. The Gondolas will be zipping the skiers from the highways edge up to the Heavenly ski area, the casinos will be serving hot buttered rums and other winter favorites (If you get a sore throat... my remedy is a "girl scout cookie" which is peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate. )... the horses and sleighs will be in the field across from Caesars Tahoe, and the snow-capped peaks reflecting in that huge blue lake, the slots dropping money into the pockets of the gamblers, the discos grinding, I just want to know how you can beat that... and if you admittedly cannot, then maybe you should just pack your bags and get TAHOE BOUND!
